I started my career as a health provider in 1995 as a very sick patient - not a doctor. I had been experiencing symptoms that weren’t diagnosed and they were getting worse. I was given many tests and medications, but nothing cured the problem. I started studying the effects of food and putting myself on all sorts of diets to heal a leaky gut, chronic irritable bowel, recurrent sinus infections, overgrowth of yeast but dead ending in a heap of frustration and not feeling well.
I consulted physicians, chiropractors and alternative therapists. I irrigated my sinuses and my colon to no end.
In 1998 I met a medical doctor that had a new approach to health. He first looked at the air that I was breathing, the water I was drinking and the foods I was eating.
He then did blood testing to discover any foods that I was reactive (sensitive) to. He also tested me to see if I was reactive to molds or any food additives or colorings. I started drinking only chlorine free filtered water. The answer to my long term health issues was allergies to mold, gluten, dairy and soy. I followed his protocol to improve my environment and was able to create a new eating plan for myself.
I wanted to specialize in the path to wellness that served me so I became a Doctor of Naturopathy, a Certified Traditional Naturopath and a Board Certified Naturopath. I have been using food sensitivity testing in my practice for over six years. I have used the same laboratories that helped diagnose me. One of them has allowed me to create my own panel for testing - the Dr. Lawler Panel. This test covers 150 foods, 20 molds, as well as 20 food colorings and additives.
